LaVonya Goodwin believes in Restoring North Omaha together and uniting all of District 2 including Downtown and North Downtown and is already working towards that goal.
As the next City Councilwoman for Omaha District 2 she will work towards:
-
The safety of our families
-
Improving our neighborhoods
-
Supporting small businesses
She is demonstrating her work in these areas right now through the organizations she’s founded Global Leadership Group Omaha, The North 24th Street BID Association and the commercial properties that she’s restored.
Drive down North 24th Street and you can see her work.
-
Homicides are down by 50% in the BID area year over year since 2021
-
LaVonya works to keep families safe in their homes by helping to draft and support the Disorderly Premises Ordinance
-
Global Leadership Group hosts 8 cleanups a year and partners with the BID 3xs a year to provide free dumpsters, because cleaner neighborhoods result in safer neighborhoods, contributing to better mental health
-
LaVonya has raised $15M YTD to improve the streets, sidewalks and support small businesses through facade improvement grants for North 24th Street
LaVonya believes by strengthening neighborhoods we can duplicate these successes in North Omaha.
LaVonya and her husband Dan have been married for 32 years and have two daughters Lasha and Lael.
